IDU Presents Uniforms To Pupils In Orogun School

Igbuku Development Union, Orogun, in collaboration with two non governmental organizations, Chief Josiah Ntekume and Paul Otu foundations, has presented sets of school uniform to the pupils of Igbuku primary school, Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Presentation of the uniform to pupils from primary 1-6 at Igbuku primary school by the union was powered by Chief Josiah Ntekume foundation and Paul Otu foundation respectively.
Speaking during the presentation, Chief Peter Ntekume who represented CEO the foundation said, “At a point in time, we discovered that some parents from the community were taking their children to private school  and we were worried about that.
“And in other to motivate the parents to bring back their children to the school, in one of our meetings, it was agreed that school uniforms should be presented to the pupils.
“In that meeting, Paul Otu held that the ‘Paul Otu foundation’ will contribute to make it achievable and our main aim is to bring others back to the school with the presentation of free uniforms and here we are today.
On her part, representative of the Paul Otu foundation, Otu Oghenekevwe said, “The exercise is aimed to return the glory of Igbuku primary school and that is what we are doing here now.
“The gesture is to tell the people that Igbuku primary school is back and the Paul Otu and Chief Josiah Ntekume foundations have kicked start the presentation of school uniforms and we are ready to do more for our community primary school. “
In his speech, the president general of Igbuku Development Union, Rev Okuama Augustine Akpojevwa JP, said “Today is a greater day because our children are happy to receive new sets of uniforms from IDU, powered by Chief Josiah Ntekume and Paul Otu foundations.
He said, “The provision of the uniforms to the pupils is our feelings and show of love to our people that no matte what happened, the community should cooperate and bring their children back to our school.
“The facts remain that government school is still the best because they have  qualified teachers where the children are well brought up. It is only in government schools, people will fail exams and be made to repeat same class.
On the school population, Rev Okuoma said, “We held meeting recently, I made it clear to the community, the reason our people should return their children back to the school and they agreed with me to do so with effect from next term.
“We will continue to encourage them to bring their children and make the population of the school bigger than what they it is now
“I want use this opportunity to call on son and daughters of Igbuku community to come and contribute their part towards the development of Igbuku primary school, Igbuku-Orogun.
Commending the Igbuku Development Union, Chief Josiah Ntekume and Paul Otu foundations, Secretary to the Local Education Authority, Olorogun Omubaye Pius said, “I am glad with what I saw in the school and if we can have more Head Teachers like the one here, our primary schools will not have any issues.
Olorogun Omubaye who was represented by Mrs Akporode Christiana Avwerosuoghene held that teachers should be dedicated to their duty post to justify why they are being engaged.
She said, “I want to appreciate the two foundations that came together and saw the plight of their children and gave them uniforms, they have done well.”
Earlier in his address, the Head Teacher of the school, Comr. Goddey Oghene-Othuke Iluarioma who commended the kind gesture of donors held that the presentation of school uniforms to pupils is a sign of good things coming to Igbuku primary school in Ughelli North.
He said, “Three months ago when I resumed as the Head Teacher here, I met 25 pupils in the entire but as we speak, we have increased to 60 and I believe with the series of meetings I had with PTA, community executive and my teachers, in the coming term the population will soar.
He appealed for the renovation the burnt five classroom building, perimeter fencing of the school, introduction of secondary school in the community with a kick off at the primary school.
“We are still appealing for the construction of water system and toilet facilities, Head Teacher office and staff quarters and the provision of flag, sports equipments and mowers to keep  the environment clean.”
